Control Room Design
Today's modern control room is a sophisticated environment. A number of different requirements have to be carefully considered and satisfied if it is going to be a safe, comfortable and effective place to work.
In previous installations G1 has:
- met DDA and Health and Safety requirements
- integrated BMS, fire, car parking, CCTV and access systems
- created a warmer, calmer and more spacious working environment
- met best practice using the CCTV User Group's guidelines
- upgraded the control room while maintaining 24-hour operational capability
- installed and maintained sophisticated video recording systems
G1 works with a specialist designer, Gresham Wood Technical Furniture and Design in preparing control room designs, illustrated layouts and plans. These are created to show how the new control room will look. Design features take into account elements such as:
- monitor walls
- lighting
- storage to create a clutter-free environment
- ergonomically designed chairs and desks for operators
- networking life system controls
- centralising access systems and help points

True integration
In any modern control room there are a number of independent yet related systems. The full potential of any installation will depend on how these systems are linked and integrated. G1 has the knowledge and experience to bring all the various systems together to provide a truly integrated and effective environment. It does not matter if there are legacy systems involved; G1 will work with the existing equipment where necessary.
From upgrades to total system replacement, G1 will manage the work professionally and completely.
Installation
G1 will provide a full schedule of works, including method statements and risk assessments, before starting installation. On all installations, G1 provides contact details of the lead engineer responsible for the work. On large project installations, GI nominates a project manager who will manage and provide regular progress updates.
